July Retiree Roundup!

This month we celebrate five retiring Union Members! Congratulations to all!

Barry Carr

Barry retired from Cavendish Appetizers in Wheatley after working 30 years. He was an electrician and held a lead hand position in the electrical department. Barry “looks forward to sleeping in and just relaxing.” He says he has a few ideas on how to stay active too! Barry enjoys riding his bike, playing golf, and skiing.

Gerry Crabtree

Gerry worked at Metro Ogilvie in Ottawa for 20 years before his recent retirement. In fact, Gerry was a meat cutter for 46 years and before he joined Metro he owned his own business. He spent the last 16 years as the Chief Steward at the store and was on the Health & Safety Committee for 10 years too. Gerry looks forward to his wife retiring in 2019 so they can move into a condo because once they sell their house, they plan to spend most of their time at the cottage. They also hope to spent their winters in Punta Cana!

Enjoy the sunshine wherever you go Gerry! Congratulations and have a happy retirement.

Pauline Manderson

Pauline also retired from her job at Metro Ogilvie very recently. After 24 years of working at the front end of the store, Pauline will miss the friendships she made over the years. Pauline has trained many employees at the store that started out as kids and are now all grown up. While her own kids were in kindergarten, Pauline worked part-time. “UFCW Local 175 was always good to me,” she said. “The Union helped me with a very important issue several years ago and I was very satisfied with how it worked out.” In her retirement, Pauline plans to move back home to New Brunswick. She plans to visit Ottawa once in a while too, to visit her grandkids.
